Summer Plans

It's hard to believe that March 1st in just 2 days away. Some people hate the month of March, thinking of the entire month as a big "tease" to spring. I love March because the month gives you something that January and February do not - hope. There are enough sunny and oddly warm days in March to make you believe that all is not lost - spring will come and summer will follow. March is a month of inevitability. Winter just can't hold on.

It is this time of year that we start to make our summer plans. We have a few definite plans which include a late June trip to Lake Ontario to sail on the Browns' 30' Catalina, "Yellow Dog." We're hoping to visit our old port of Youngstown, NY and then shoot across the lake (uh, more like, small ocean) to Toronto for a few nights. Should be fun to be the passengers vs. the hosts and see what "Yellow Dog" is made of.

Curt would like to do a few regattas this year and shake the dust off of "Aquavit" - the old girl did no racing last year and Curt feels as though she needs to get out on the Bay and show her stuff. I know he's just itching to have an excuse to use his asymmetrical spinnaker. My only goal is to make a trip to Block Island this year in early August and a visit to Cuttyhunk Island (favorite spot) again. Other than that, I hope every weekend involves the boat, sunshine, some reggae music, some good drinks and "snackcessories," good friends and family. We're going to skip the big Vineyard trip and maybe do that in 2011 (Did I just type 2011? Can it be?).

Time to break out the calendar, plot some courses, make some plans...
